Portraiture - Frequently Asked Questions

What types of portrait photography do you offer for schools?
I offer individual student portraits, class and year group photographs, staff headshots, leadership team portraits, and informal candid-style portraits for use in marketing materials. I can tailor the style — from clean formal portraits against a plain background to natural environmental portraits shot around your campus — to suit your school's brand.

How long does a portrait shoot day take?
Timing depends on the number of students and the format required. Individual portraits typically run at around 3–4 minutes per student. A full year group of 100 students can be completed in a morning session with good organisation from your school's admin team. I'll provide a detailed schedule and briefing document in advance.

What format are portraits delivered in?
All portraits are delivered as high-resolution JPEGs via a private online gallery, suitable for print and digital use. Individual student portraits can also be provided with transparent backgrounds on request, which is useful for ID cards, yearbooks and school management systems.

Can we have both formal and informal portraits from the same session?
Yes — I often run a two-look portrait session, capturing a clean formal portrait and a more relaxed natural version for each student. This gives your marketing team flexibility depending on where the image is being used.

How are staff headshots handled differently from student portraits?
Staff headshots are typically shot separately from student portrait days, either in a dedicated session or during a broader marketing shoot day. I work quickly and efficiently with staff — most headshots take under three minutes per person — and deliver consistent, professional results that work across your website, staff directory and LinkedIn profiles.

How quickly are portrait images delivered?
Edited portraits are typically delivered within seven working days of the shoot. Rush delivery within 48–72 hours is available on request for schools with tight publication deadlines.
